Each year the Commodore selects a member who has given outstanding service and demonstrated dedication in the best interests of the club and a member or family in recognition of their love of boating and use of club facilities. The 2023 award winners are:

Pete's Marina Award
It gives me great pleasure to award the 2023 Walla Walla Yacht Clubs Pete’s Marina award to both Chris and Lacy Gottfried and Steve and Amber Leitner. I must admit that deciding on the recipient of this particular award was somewhat challenging as both the Gottfrieds and Leitners use and enjoyment of the club and its amenities were above par. Both Chris and Lacy and Steve and Amber, along with their families, were frequent fixtures in the campground, clubhouse and river. You could always count on a pleasant conversation with all as well as enjoying seeing them on the river having fun in the summer sun. It has been a pleasure enjoying the club with you folks.

Peyton Award

It gives me great pleasure to award the 2023 Walla Walla Yacht Clubs Peyton award to Ken Kuhlmann. Ken and Elaine Joined the Walla Walla Yacht Club in 2004 and Ken became Treasurer in 2006. Throughout the last seventeen years, Ken has served as the Walla Walla Yacht Club’s Treasurer and has consistently provided indispensable oversight and guidance of the Walla Walla Yacht Clubs financial affairs ensuring that the clubs members and board continued to be well informed and up to date.
Throughout his many years as Treasurer Ken’s knowledge and skills were instrumental in finding the funding for both the New Breakwater, completed in 2007 and the Electrical Upgrade, completed in 2010. Both of these major undertakings required immediate attention and a significant investment of funds.
Throughout the past year, Ken was instrumental in ensuring that funding was and continues to be available for the various major repairs and upgrades needed by the club which includes the continued rebuilding and repair of the breakwater. Ken is also instrumental in ensuring that the day to day financial needs of the club are continually met and that all moneys owed are repaid in a timely manner.
I would personally like to thank Ken for all of his help throughout my time as commodore. It has truly been a pleasure.
